Manufacturing Process

  1. Punching : Corks boards are boiled in large boilers before being punched.

  2. After punching, corks are polished and cut to the ideal size.

  3. Washing is a disinfecting operation (to eradicate microbes).

  4. Sorting : grading is determined at the first pass of the grading machines. Final sorting is always done manually.

  5. Branding : personalising corks either with burning or with ink.

  6. Surface treatment : coating corks to easier botlling and extraction, improving protection against TCA and capillarity property.

  7. Counting & Packaging : Corks are counted electronically and vacuum sealed in polyethylene bags with serum injection SO2.

  8. Logistics: 5 or 6 polyethylene bags of 1000 corks (less if requested) each are put in a box.
